WARNING! This profile contains spoilers for the character's series!

Mika Seido is a young woman living in the 23rd century, a time where genetic engineering stands as the foundation of society. The government's Population Administration Bureau carefully monitors the distribution of DNA such that the only humans that exist are ones of use to society. It also ensures that the ideal ratio of 9:1 between women and men is kept. Through genetic engineering, violent emotions have been suppressed and a person's role in society can be predetermined by the inherent skills their DNA is programmed with. People are considered mature at age 15 and have a life cycle of 45 years. This turn to genetic engineering is highly suggested to have saved humanity from destroying itself in the 21st century. It has created a period of world peace for 200 years.

Mika is 16 years old and stands at a height of 162 centimeters. She is classified as having a "White" gene type. While all children start off with the "white" gene type, the vast majority of them become a different color gene type around the age of ten. The "white" gene type is a stamp of both immaturity and normalcy, making Mika the victim of much tease and insult. This has led her to become very hotheaded and stubborn. She is quick to judge and is almost always trying to prove herself to others. She can also become depressed and lonely if left to herself. However, Mika is capable of great compassion when she sees that a friend or comrade is in need of suppport. She eventually goes on to show that even as a "white" having no particularly extraordinary skills, she has the potential to create a monumental change in humanity's future.

Having joined the military and reaching the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, she is assigned to the mysterious "S Mission" and travels to Maracanan space station. Here she is reunited with an old friend, Sofia Galgalim, who is assigned to the same mission. Mika and Sofia have a close relationship such that Sofia is like an older sister to Mika. Together, they theorize that the S Mission involves a large object shaped like a ring that appeared in the Earth's orbit roughly five years prior. She also encounters a man named Hiroto Amagiwa, with whom she is not on good terms. Hiroto is captain of a spaceship called the Bilkis, which is coincidently the craft to be used for the S Mission. A survey team is sent to the surface of the "ring" in order to make observations, but an accident caused by a terrorist group (with the motive of restoring humanity back to "natural order" by undoing the genetic engineering of society) causes the ring to react and fire upon the Earth. Soon after, Hiroto reveals that the mission of the Bilkis is to destroy the ring and its source of origin in order to protect humanity. In order to do this, the Bilkis employs a giant mecha called the Shaft. Mika's purpose in the mission is to serve as a candidate (along with four others) to pilot the Shaft.

Mika Seido's hatred for the captain, Hiroto Amagiwa, is made clear in their first encounter at the space station as the first thing she does is attempt to attack him. In fact, she says on multiple occasions that she plans to kill him. This contempt is harbored from an event that occured one year prior. Hiroto took part in a training mission in Jupiter's orbit. During the mission, an accident occured that forced the participants to set out in escape pods. However, due to a long wait prior to rescue, lack of oxygen became an issue. Hiroto was in an escape pod with Ryoko Burning, Mika's best friend since childhood, but once the pod was rescued he was the only survivor. Mika judged that Hiroto must have murdered Ryoko in order to have enough oxygen to stay alive himself. Mika eventually confronts him with the situation, and he explains that Ryoko willingly took her own life because she had a duplicate (a person with exactly the same genetic code). However, Mika had already contacted Ryoko's duplicate, and claimed that even though the duplicate had the same appearance and expressions as Ryoko, she was in no way the Ryoko that Mika befriended as a child. Mika does not show any signs of ever accepting Hiroto's side of the story, though over time she slowly begins to forgive him as she learns of his ordeals and how he thinks. Hiroto motivates Mika through his persistent opinion that Mika has the best combination of skills to pilot the Shaft and is among the first to believe in her "unknown potential" as a white gene type. She doesn't trust him at first, thinking his persistent choosing of her as the pilot is meant as a message that she is expendable, but this is eventually offset by the fact that Mika wants to become the main pilot of the Shaft in order to prove her own worth.

In its travels to find the source of the rings (which it has fought against multiple times since leaving Earth's orbit), the Bilkis comes across a drifting space shuttle from the 21st century that was brought over by a time-traveling ring. Inside are three American astronauts. The shuttle is captured and the astronauts are quarantined, considered dangerous as they are primitives from humanity's most self-destructive era. Mika, however, makes contact with them in secret and gives them a tour of the Bilkis, claiming that it was unfair to lock them up when they had done no harm. One of the astronauts, Larry, tries to explain to her the importance of having something to believe in and live for, something she keeps thinking to herself and tries to make sense of afterwards. Unfortunately, the situation ends when the astronauts attempt to seize control of the ship by force only to be sent back in time again by the appearance of another ring.

Throughout most of the series, Mika's rival is Mir Lotus, another candidate for the Shaft's pilot and also the woman known to have the best combination of genes in history. Upon meeting, they become bitter towards each other due to harsh words on both sides over the issue of genetics. Though as the series progresses, Mir begins to lose faith in her abilities and shows a vulnerable, desperate side of herself. This triggers Mika's compassion, and she takes Mir's side to the surprise of Sofia and others.

Mika develops a faith in others and in her own unknown potential as the events of the series come to pass. She comes to develop an understanding that there is more to humanity than genes. Throughout her presence in the story, she often takes time to write emails to Bis, her pet dog back on Earth. Bis is also genetically engineered, posessing human intelligence as well as the ability to read and respond to Mika's email.

Coming from a future where all humans are genetically engineered, Mika Seido is quite physically able and posesses some interesting abilities, including a great knowledge of computer programming. Although, being able to run 100 meters in under five seconds in zero-G probably won't help her much on a train.
